Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I apply?
    You need to fill in a short application form and send it back to us, if we have any questions we usually try and set up a phone call. You will hear back from us about your place, within 7 working days.
  • Can I get a discounted or reduced fee?
    Unfortunately, we are unable to provide discounts or reduced fees for any of our courses at the moment. External bodies may be able to provide assistance and it may be worthwhile researching to see if you are eligible for any grants or loans. We are happy to supply information in support of such applications where possible.
  • Can I pay in instalments?
    Yes! We ask for a 20% deposit to secure your place on the course. We will then send you a monthly invoice for every month of the course.
  • How can I pay?
    We take payments by bank transfer.
  • Are there specific requirements for joining courses?
    You don’t have to have done any prior counselling courses for the introduction course, you do need level 2 English written and spoken skills. If you haven’t been in formal learning for a while, don’t worry, the tutors will support you as you ease back into a classroom environment. For all of our courses we ask you to complete and application form. For the Level 3 course, you need to have completed at least 90 hours of prior counselling skills training. For the level 4 Diploma you will need to have a prior Level 2 and 3 certificate in counselling skills and studies or equivalent totalling 180 hours, entry is via application and interview.
  • How do I find out if I can get some support for my learning?
    When we receive your application form, one of our tutors will review it and let us know if you are accepted onto the course. If you have marked down that you might need extra support, that tutor will get in contact with you to talk through what we can do to help your learning.
  • Can I become a trained counsellor at NWLCT?
    We provide the full progression, you can study with us from beginner level up to full practitioner level. We know that your next move into a counselling career is important, as part of our Diploma course, we offer career development modules.
